LEGAL ANALYSIS

In India, laws are made separately at different levels- by the Union/ State/ Local Self Governments. The sources of law are also varied: statutes, subordinate legislation in the form of rules, regulations, etc., customs and case law. Besides, morality and principles of international law are also recognized and applied by the courts while administering justice in certain spheres. Though the Parliament can amend the Constitution, the supreme law of the land is the Constitution of India; and the aforesaid laws are constantly subjected to scrutiny and interpretations by the higher judiciary which is entrusted with the task of preserving the constitutional philosophy of social, political and economic justice. Thus, one has to face a complex and ever-evolving legal environment. Hence, ALERT team attempts an in-depth critical analysis of the current judicial decisions and developments in the law.
