‘Rule of law’ does not mean the enforcement of the rights of a fortunate few. The poor too have such rights; and the rule of law is meant for them also, though it exists only on paper. Today, bulk of the population is living a sub human existence. These poor and deprived sections cannot afford to enforce their rights. It is only through multi-dimensional strategies including public interest litigation, socio-economic rescue operations can be made effective. As a part of the legal aid movement, ALERT intends to bring justice within the reach of the poor masses, who constitute the low visibility area of humanity by helping them to win cases, tackle legal obstacles, and navigate the legal intricacies of the present world.
